More Grade 7 and 8 students attend the Level Up! Skilled Trades Career Fair

During the month of October, nearly 500 Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Grade 7 and 8 students attended Level Up! – a multi-day career fair that brings together the best in skilled trades professionals across industry organizations, post-secondary institutions, businesses, and associations.

TLDSB has been fortunate to participate in multiple event days. The first was back in September in Barrie, and most recently, students from schools in Muskoka attended the October 16 event in North Bay, and students from schools in the City of Kawartha Lakes attended the October 22 to 24 event in Oshawa.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to travel around various booths and exhibits, where they learned about Ontario’s 140+ skilled trades through interactive and hands-on activities, all while hearing directly from tradespeople and local employers.

“It is a very exciting event and such a great opportunity for our intermediate students to gain hands-on experience in many different skilled trades,” said TLDSB experiential learning consultant, Katie Albisser. “I think this kind of immersive experience is a terrific way to inspire students to begin thinking about their pathways and their future careers. I love hearing that many students come away from the day with new ideas about where their pathways might lead.”
